Kim Jong Ill | Yoshitomo Nara
Yeah I know a mad mix for the title but these ingredients dominated my last few weeks, especially the former (oh and we had to evacuate from our house as the last typhoon flooded a lot of lower lying homes, but that's another story...)
I watched with some apprehension today the reaction on Aussie TV of the South Korean Foreign Minister. While John Howard calls him "seriously crazy" the South Koreans seem a lot less flippant when talking about the leader of 21 million fervent followers...the South Korean foreign minister called him "quite intelligent".
I'm sure these girls would agree!

Japan, as North Koreas' closest target (I'm sure Russia and China and Sth Korea are off Kims' list..hoping anyway) is all over this in the media, right down to making sure prized mushrooms don't get through to these shores via the back door of China. Talk today of a second test had people talking here well and truely fired up, more than I've seen since Kim shot a few rockets this way!
If the nutter does test another bomb I think we'll be back to NZ a month earlier, albeit flying Korean Air!
Aside from this we've been into things Japanese, the best of which was an exhibition by Yoshitomo Nara, a local artist from up this way. If his stuff is ever passing through your neck of the woods I'd definitely recommend a browse.
